Driving & Resting Hours
Safety is at the heart of everything we do. At Nordic Bus, we understand that what we transport is what matters most — you and the people you care about.
That’s why we strictly follow all EU rules on driving hours and rest periods. Both our management team and our drivers are trained to honour these regulations at all times. This commitment is a core part of our company values and the foundation for every journey we operate.
Driving and rest time rules can seem complicated, especially because there are many exceptions and special situations. Below is a simple overview of the most important guidelines our drivers follow:
- A driver may drive for a maximum of 4.5 hours at a time, after which a break is required.
- Each break must last at least 45 minutes, but it can be split into 15 minutes + 30 minutes.
- A driver may drive up to 9 hours per day, with the option to extend this to 10 hours twice a week.
- A driver’s working day may last up to 13 hours. This can be extended to 15 hours, up to three times per week.
- Every driver must take a daily rest period of 11 consecutive hours. This can be reduced to 9 hours, again up to three times per week.
- Every driver must take a daily rest period of 11 consecutive hours. This can be reduced to 9 hours, again up to three times per week.
These rules help ensure that our drivers stay rested, alert, and fully focused on what matters — getting you safely to your destination.
